A total fund of €17 million is going to be allocated for the Republic Of Ireland Government’s long-anticipated Renewable Heat Incentive (RHI) scheme.  €7m is going towards the first phase of the scheme, which is due to start in Spring 2018.

The hope is that the scheme will encourage industrial and commercial heat users, in the Republic of Ireland, to switch to greener technologies and will be as popular as it’s English predecessor which has had over 58,000 successful applications since 2014.

The big move from fossil fuels to renewable heat systems is set to provide financial and commercial opportunities for Agricultural businesses nationwide.

The RHI presents a significant opportunity for the domestic bioenergy sector benefiting farmers, foresters and rural communities who do not have access to natural gas.
