coal plants use as much water as 1 billion people

The effect that fossil fuels have on our planet doesn’t just end with greenhouse gas emissions, they also use a massive amount of natural resources, often so much, that they begin to diminish. World Water Day Research finds that 44% of coal plants and 45% of planned coal power plants are in areas of water stress, which is a frightening thought when you find out that coal power plants use enough water to supply the needs of 1 billion people; If that isn’t worrying enough, their water usage will almost double if all the world’s planned power plants go online.
