400kW Biogas Boiler
This Welsh farm was already benefiting from microgeneration, but contacted Shaw Renewables for a bioenergy solution that would make use of the excess biogas being produced by their biogas plant.
We designed a containerised Energy Pod system which combusted the plant’s excess biogas to generate heat – this heat is distributed by manifolds, sharing the thermal energy throughout the site via a heat network.
Two purpose built drying units (L-Enz Dryers) provide a combined drying capability of 520kW. The rest of the generated heat is used for multiple applications including providing space heating and DHW.
Installed into one 40ft container, 2 energy pod plant rooms, divided by a fabricated wall, each house a 199kW Viessmann boiler, biogas burner, all necessary ancillary controls, manifolds, pressure equipment and equipment to satisfy Ofgem metering requirements.
The Energy Pod was fabricated in our workshop over 6 weeks and shipped to site ready for connection to the client’s biogas plant controls.

The customer is part of the Renewable Heat Incentive Scheme (RHI), benefiting from payments for 20 years.
