The occupants of Deblinghausen have removed their oil fuelled heating and now have their heat supplied by this 800kW biogas plant.

The electricity generated by the plant gets fed in to the grid – this is however an added extra. From the start, the plant operators and the town of Deblinghausen wanted to generate heat from manures and other agricultural by-products, but choosing to utilise these feedstocks in a biogas plant allowed them to create combined heat and power – the maximum generation of electricity takes place whenever the heat demand is highest.
