75kW Fröling Woodchip Boiler
With milk prices in decline and production costs on the rise, our customer needed to diversify and save money – the need for large amounts of hot water on a dairy farm made a biomass boiler the perfect solution to cutting production costs quickly.
The was does of parlour equipments and a hot swill out of the milk tank everyday were costly on our customer’s electric hot water system. The woodchip biomass boiler ensures hot water is delivered on demand 24 hours a day at a fraction of the cost and almost no recovery time needed.
The switch from an oil fuelled burner and electric immersion has reduced our customer’s fuel costs by over £250 a month, making a real impact on their production costs.
A pre-existing barn houses the biomass boiler, buffer tanks and custom built fuel store. The compact nature of the system allows the building to continue being used as a barn. We installed pre-insulated mains pipes to carry heat for domestic hot water and space heating from the plant room across the yard to the farm house and herdsman’s house.
The dairy has constant 87˚c water for wash down, equipment cleaning and bulk tank swilling. The farm house and herdsman’s house have thermostatic space heating provided with radiators. All of the domestic hot water needs of both properties are easily met by the biomass system.
